Rays strand eight more runners in loss to Toronto Blue Jays

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The Tampa Bay Rays have been stranded. Pretty much, that sums up the team’s 6-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday night.  The Rays drove in only one of nine runners in scoring position, and they’ve driven in only one of 26 on the homestand. “We’re going to get going offensively. We just didn’t,” manager Kevin Cash said. “Hopefully, we’ll turn it around. We know we’re better than what we’ve done the last couple of nights offensively. The guys…

Bullpen has kept the Tampa Bay Rays afloat early in the season

in Sports/Top Headlines by

In the beginning of the season, a large question mark hovered over the bullpen of the Tampa Bay Rays. More and more, it looks like an exclamation point. Through 21 games, the bullpen for the Tampa Bay Rays has been excellent. Consider their seven wins. Consider their five saves. Consider the life in the arms. This was supposed to be a weak position, remember? Jake McGee was traded, and Brad Boxberger was hurt, and no one was quite sure how…

Tampa Bay left nine runners on base, and they were only 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. “I thought Drew was good,” manager Kevin Cash said. “He just got beat up by the…

Minnesota’s Ervin Santana worked six innings and gave up only three hits, walking one.
