New St. Pete resident sues Tampa pawn shop over high-priced stolen wristwatch

in Local Courts by

A Texas man who recently relocated to Florida is suing over a rare wristwatch stolen and turning up at a Tampa pawn shop. In late 2016, Edward C. Bailey moved into a $750K third-floor condo at the Parkshore Plaza high-rise on St. Petersburg’s tony Beach Drive. Court records show no mortgage recorded in Pinellas County, suggesting the purchase was paid in cash. Bailey claims that his wristwatch was stolen (or misappropriated) Jan. 5, and was taken to Mr. Money Pawn…

Tryst Gastro Lounge, the booming nightlife mecca on Beach Drive, is firing back against recent accusations that the business was a “bad neighbor.” During a City Council meeting earlier this month approving an updated noise ordinance, several residents and some council members specifically referenced Tryst as the center of the noise problem downtown. No other business was directly referenced in that meeting. “We work very closely with the city of St. Petersburg to comply with the latest noise requirements,” the…

Whether that’s accurate or not, one veteran Florida Republican political strategist admitted at Friday’s Tampa Tiger Bay Club meeting that such advertising can suppress the vote, and be beneficial in helping a candidate win. “If you can find an issue that would not suppress, but turn people against voting,…

Bella Brava, Domenica Macchia part ways

in Apolitical/Peter by

Sad news to report but my favorite chef, the ever mercurial Domenica Macchia, and my favorite restaurant, Bella Brava, have decided to part ways.  I really don’t know where this leaves Domenica.  She is one of the most talented chefs I know, but has had trouble settling down into one place.  As for Bella Brava, their license to print money, err, I mean, move to Beach Drive is on-track (although they just started going through permitting yesterday). Developing…
