These days, when someone comes to the St. Petersburg Free Clinic looking for food, it’s not certain that they’ll get anything. The St. Petersburg Free Clinic has received a $20,000 grant from Clearwater-based Senior Citizens Services to expand its Hearty Homes program, which provides food to senior citizens in south and mid-Pinellas County. Bonnie Hechtkopf has searched for a way to honor her husband, Jared, ever since he died 15 years ago. She thinks she’s found it. Doors to a brand-new 50-resident living facility open later this month near downtown St. Petersburg, at 814 4th Avenue North. The St. Petersburg Free Clinic is expanding residential services for women. The Virginia and David Baldwin Women’s residence will provide an additional 30 beds for women when it opens.
