Tampa Bay Times’ Michael Auslen faces DUI charge

in Apolitical/Top Headlines by

As the Tampa Bay Times reported late Monday evening, one of its very own became the subject of a recurring Tallahassee story: the Tennessee Street DUI arrest. Michael Auslen, the youngest member of the Times‘ Capitol bureau, was pulled over after officers were alerted to a speeding and swerving vehicle at approximately 11:15 p.m. this past Saturday evening. In an affidavit, Auslen admitted to drinking at a local bar but couldn’t specify the exact location. His reported location at the time of arrest…

#7 on list of Tampa Bay’s Most Powerful Politicians — Dana Young

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

When Rick Scott unceremoniously dumped Jennifer Carroll two years ago, speculation immediately surfaced that Dana Young would be a logical successor as Scott approached a re-election year. That didn’t happen, of course, but this South Tampa-based Republican has skillfully worked her way through House Leadership since she took the open seat over Democrat Stacy Frank in 2010, the last time she’s had to sweat out an election. Peter Schorsch is a huge fan of craft beer: the taste, the smell and even the interesting artwork on the bottles. However, he cannot help but wonder; what might happen if crafties get what they want from Florida…

Craft brewers may need to be careful what they ask for

in Top Headlines by

Let me start by saying I am a huge craft beer fan. I love craft beer. I love the very idea of craft beer. I love the taste, the smell and heck I even love the interesting artwork on the bottles. I especially love the pick-yourself-up-by-the bootstraps grit of the craft beer business folks. But I can’t help but wonder; what might happen if the crafties get what they want from Florida lawmakers? 64 ounce growlers? Check. Got that. No brainer. A few…
