The City of St. Pete released a time-lapsed video of Pier demolition occurring between August 28 through September 4. In what would have been a slap in the face to activists who have long fought to preserve the inverted pyramid, the one-week progress shows … absolutely nothing. Pier demolition debris gathered up in case Erika visits St. Petersburg

There’s a tropical storm, maybe a hurricane, maybe heading straight for us. Maybe. Nevertheless, demolition of the inverted pyramid has been temporarily put on hold in order to make sure the site is safe should a storm maybe hit St. Petersburg. Crews were on site Friday afternoon clearing debris from the Pier head into large bins using cranes and other heavy machinery. The overall structure is still mostly intact. Portions of the exterior façade have been removed or partially removed.…

St. Pete photographer Joey Vadder put together a short video documenting the St. Pete Pier demolitions so far and you have to see it. Even if you’re a Pier Park supporter, it’ll bring a tear to your eye. The video shows a close up image of the Pier behind the sealed off fences.
