Deveron Gibbons - page 3

Times editorial: ‘Clean sweep needed at the top of SPC’ – in other words, it’s time to get rid of Deveron Gibbons

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

The St. Petersburg Times editorial board is urging Governor Charlie Crist to not re-appoint Deveron Gibbons to the Board of Trustees at St. Petersburg College.  An excerpt: The selection of Tallahassee Community College president Bill Law this week as the new president for St. Petersburg College was predictable, safe and uninspiring. Now Gov. Charlie Crist should be more creative and bring some fresh faces to the college’s board of trustees. As long as the college is embarking on a new…

Video: Gulfport police stop Goliath Davis for suspicion of DUI

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Yesterday, an anonymous source contacted me with information that City of St. Petersburg Deputy Mayor and former Police Chief Goliath ‘Go’ Davis had been stopped by Gulfport Police on suspicion of DUI. I don’t have to tell you how quickly I moved to investigate this matter.  I am surprised I did not get a ticket for speeding from the same police department I needed to question. As much as I would have liked otherwise, many of my readers were not coming directly to Saint Petersblog, rather they were coming to the site after searching for a particular term in Google, Yahoo, etc. Yes, there was a base of regular readers who arrived on…

City of St. Petersburg’s lobbyist resigns – updated

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

The effervescent Laura Boehmer has resigned from her position as the City of St. Petersburg’s full-time lobbyist, less than five weeks after Mayor Bill Foster took office. According to my sources, Ms. Boehmer has agreed to take a position with uber lobbying firm Southern Strategies. “Laura has represented St. Petersburg very well in Tallahassee over the past several years, and we wish her well as she continues her career in legislative affairs with a private firm,” said Senior Administrator Dave…
