Mitch Perry Report for 4.26.16 – Collusion politics

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Although registration for Republicans have surged in a number of states this primary season, the larger trend is that people are becoming more disaffected by our two major political parties, and signing up as independents. And with Democratic superdelegates on one side, and top ranking GOP officials seemingly doing whatever they can to try to legitimately deny Donald Trump the presidential nomination on the other, their brands are being further tarnished. Unlike 2012, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri is expected to glide to a successful re-election later this year, despite the fact that he now has a third candidate who has filed to oppose him in Josh Black. Black is a Pinellas Republican who lost in his bid for the House District 68 seat in 2014. He earned national notoriety (and a visit by the Secret Service) for issuing a tweet in January of 2014 that it was time for Obama to be…

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

The New York  Yankees are worth at least $3.4 billion, according to Forbes. Depending on what survey you look at, they are either the 2nd or 3rd most valuable sports property in the world (behind only Real Madrid and maybe the Dallas Cowboys). Despite that vast wealth, the ball club and the Tampa Sports Authority are comfortable with the fact that local and state taxes will pay for two-thirds of the $40 million upgrade for George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, the home of…
