As the remnants of Hurricane Irma move out of Florida, work is underway to resupply the state with gasoline, the AAA said Monday. Florida gas prices are averaging $2.72 per gallon today. The state average is 8 cents more than this time last week.
Florida gas prices continued their downward trend Monday, hitting a statewide average of $2.02 a gallon in time for millions of travelers to hit the road for the holidays. The pump price has dropped by a penny from last week’s average, and 45 cents compared with the statewide average one year ago. New data shows Floridians spent more in 2014 as the economy improved. The Sun Sentinel reports statistics released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis shows Florida outpaced the nation’s annual increase in personal consumption – 4.9 percent compared to 4.2 percent. The increase in spending stems from many factors including more discretionary income from heightened economic activity and lower gasoline prices.
