in 2017/Top Headlines by

Valentine’s Day is a day of romance, and Americans United for Change is sending a love letter to their friends in the GOP. Tongue-in-cheek that is. In a new email, the progressive advocacy group, fronted by Democratic operativeĀ Brad Woodhouse, issued its Republican Party Valentine’s Day cards. ā€œHaving trouble expressing yourself to that special someone in your life this Valentine’s season,ā€ the email asks. ā€œWhy not let the Republican candidates do it for you with these personalized cards from their favorite…

The Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner is set for March 12 at the Hilton Carillon Hotel in the county’s Gateway area. The event is the party’s biggest fundraiser. This year’s goal for the dinner is $200,000. Last year the group raised $140,000. Because it was an off-election year, however, that amount was record-breaking for the local party. in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Gearing up for the 2016 Presidential Preference Primary in Florida, The Hispanic Republican Club in Pinellas County is offering up some free services. Abrasive Ted Cruz tries to use personality to his advantage

in 2017/Top Headlines by

Ted Cruz‘s reputation as an arrogant, grating, in-your-face ideologue has dogged him throughout the Republican presidential race. But it hasn’t stopped the Texas senator’s rise. Cruz is increasingly embracing his irascible persona, trying to turn what could be a liability into an asset. “If you want someone to grab a beer with, I may not be that guy,” Cruz said at a Republican debate this fall when asked to describe his biggest weakness. “But if you want someone to drive…

Today on Context Florida: Holiday service, homegrown threats, Christmas wishes and what’s wrong with the GOP

in Apolitical by

Today onĀ Context Florida: Terri Susan Fine says the Thanksgiving season brought interesting discussions about ā€œthe holidays.ā€ Many holidays are celebrated by people of different cultures, religious backgrounds and nations of origin. There are some who may celebrate both holidays such that they wish each other ā€œMerry Christmasā€ and a ā€œHappy Hanukkah,ā€ while others include Hanukkah decorations on their Christmas trees or add the traditional red-and-green Christmas colors to their Hanukkah menorahs, the eight-light candelabra used as part of the Hanukkah…
