5 things I think I think about today’s St. Petersburg Times

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

So a mid-level editor (with whom I am friendly) at the Times called and e-mailed me yesterday to “warn” me that my criticism of assistant metro editor Sandra Gadsden did not go unnoticed.  Add this criticism to my recent “outing” of Times food critic Laura Reiley’s decision to take a leave of absence and, he said, I may be tempting fate again.  Meaning the Times may want to write something about me just to take me down a notch.  The…

Hometown Democracy amendment in trouble

in Statewide by

Most Floridians support the “Hometown Democracy” constitutional amendment but not in high enough numbers to pass the measure this fall, according to the fourth annual Sunshine State survey. The survey, released Wednesday, found that 51 percent of residents were in favor of the amendment, which would require local voter approval on all land-use development plans. The proposal needs 60 percent approval statewide for it to pass. The Leadership Florida 2010 Sunshine State survey was conducted Feb. 5-17 by The Nielson…
