Joe Trippi embraces the ‘anti-status quo’ (like Jeff Greene)

in Statewide by

Six years ago, Joe Trippi was heralded as the man who was reinventing campaigning for the Internet era on behalf of the outsider who nearly became the Democratic standard-bearer. In the 2010 cycle, he’s becoming known as the man throwing bombs at the establishment working for a string of primary challenges, most notably Jeff Greene in Florida, at a time when Democrats are fighting hard to avoid them. He pushes back hard against the label, but Democratic establishment types are now calling…

Since she can’t pick Darryl Rouson, shouldn’t Alex Sink’s choice for LG be the ‘non-winner’ of Dave Aronberg vs. Dan Gelber?

in Peter/Statewide by

Watching (or is it witnessing?) Democratic state Rep. Darryl Rouson interact with gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink as she toured several African-American churches in south St. Petersburg, it’s obvious that the two would make a helluva political team. Rouson and Sink are everything the other is not, and therefore, together, they are greater than what either of them could be individually.  Sink is almost perfect, open, patient, temperate, understanding; Rouson is flawed, but redeemed, fiery, sharp, empathetic.  Sink has the background…

In the poll of 600 likely voters, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates, Crist was favored by 33 percent of respondents. Marco Rubio was favored by 29 percent and Democrat Kendrick Meek by 15 percent. The poll shows Crist taking more votes from Meek than Rubio. Crist actually does…

Marco Rubio responds to ethics complaint about campaign financing…by asking for a campaign donation

in Statewide by

Just caught this press release from the Marco Rubio campaign in response to an ethics complaint being filed against him: ..it’s no surprise that Democrats are now targeting Marco with the first of many political stunts to distract voters’ attention from their flawed ObamaCare plan and the massive, out-of-control spending that has taken place on their watch. The smears and attacks against Marco get more ridiculous each day. Today’s stunt is to enlist a maxed out Hillary Clinton supporter to…

Marco Rubio’s spending targeted in ethics complaint

in Statewide by

From Beth Reinhard: Former House Speaker Marco Rubio misspent donations to the Republican Party of Florida and his political committees “to subsidize his lifestyle,” according to a sweeping complaint filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics. The complaint filed by Michael D. Ryan, 55, of Fort Lauderdale also says Rubio used his public office to get an unadvertised job at Florida International University at a time when the school was laying off faculty. Ryan described himself in an interview Tuesday…
