Good morning to the unofficial beginning of Summer, which actually began in the Tampa Bay area several weeks ago, if you gauge it by when the temperature gets into the 90s on a regular basis. New legislation signed by Gov. Scott could help Hillsborough County with a transit tax in 2016

Members involved with two important local agencies got huge news this week. Among the more than three dozen bills that Gov. Rick Scott signed into law on Thursday included a child welfare bill that removes both the Hillsborough County Children’s Board and the Pinellas County Juvenile Welfare Board from having to go before local voters next year in a referendum to essentially fight for their continued existence. Both agencies are currently funded by property taxes, but those taxes aren’t subject to the whims…
