His commercials omnipresent on Tampa Bay televisions, Charlie Crist has taken back the lead from David Jolly in the race for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. According to a fresh survey from St. Pete Polls, the former governor now leads the incumbent congressman 48 to 43 percent with a healthy 9 percent of CD 13 voters undecided. Well, that was unpleasant. Before last night’s vice-presidential debate from Farmville, Virginia, the conventional wisdom amongst the pundit class was that Donald Trump would “sink” Mike Pence, as he’d have to contend with all of the many, many provocative comments made by the GOP nominee, both during this year-and-half-long campaign, but also going back decades. The ad opens with a St. Petersburg couple identified as “Lucinda and Howard…

But the Jolly camp responded by finding a 10-year-old newspaper story where Charlie Crist is quoted as saying that he would support a harsh anti-abortion bill. The ad, entitled, “One Word” focuses on Jolly’s pro-life stance in Congress, and equates it with Donald Trump’s stance on the issue.…

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Could the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) be coming to help save the day for David Jolly after all? That could be the case after the head of that committee said late last week he looks forward to having conversations with him in his re-election race against Charlie Crist this fall. The relationship between the Pinellas County Congressman and the committee responsible for electing Republicans to Congress seemed to be in tatters after Jolly’s appearance on “60 Minutes” back in April.…
