That figure brings Long’s campaign contribution total up to approximately $33,458. She formally jumped into the race for Commission’s District 1 seat back in May. In total, 45 checks were contributed to the Long campaign in September. That…

Pinellas County Commission. The afternoon portion of the meeting’s nearly finished. All the hairy issues have been put to bed. Very soon there will be a break. Thank God. “Agenda item 33 is my appointment to the PSTA Board,” says Commission Chairman John Morroni. He’s wearing a gray suit and tie with a light blue shirt. Gray suits are nice. You can look like James Bond in a gray suit. You can look like Pee-wee Herman too. “I’d like to…

Brad Miller’s poor performance evaluation is a questionable step down from last year

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority CEO Brad Miller received the worst performance evaluation he’s ever gotten since he started heading the transit agency in 2011. His average score based on rankings by his 15-member board this year is just 3.34. That’s down from 4.47 last year. While the ranking puts Miller in the “average” and “meets expectations” categories – a 2 is considered needs improvement and a 4 exceeds expectations – the number is a shocking detraction from Miller’s previous favorability…

County Attorney Jim Bennett earns another good review, although not better than last year’s

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Upon quick review, Pinellas County Attorney Jim Bennett‘s annual performance review was pretty good. In a numerical rating system where a total of 400 points were available, Bennett earned 352.3, or 88 percent of all possible points. Those numbers equate to a review that’s between “good” and “excellent,” according to the review’s rating criteria. There is, however, one noticeably hairy little fly in the ointment. Last year, Bennett scored a 93 percent. In the review, each of Pinellas’ seven county commissioners rated Bennett…
