Janet Long nearly tops $17,000 for re-election campaign

Since filing to run for re-election in early May, Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long has raised exactly $16,808 in campaign contributions. That’s according to the last three months of published campaign finance reports on the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections’ website. Long, a 70 year-old Democrat from Seminole, has received nearly 50 total checks so far, including five for $1,000 — the maximum allowable individual contribution amount. Tampa public relations firm Tucker/Hall was paid more than $400,000 by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) in 2013 and 2014 to create a public education campaign for the Greenlight Pinellas transit referendum that was soundly defeated at the polls last November. Proposed county funding for Community Redevelopment reduced by more than $6 million

Pinellas County commissioners Tuesday approved moving forward with a plan that would allocate funding to some of St. Petersburg’s most impoverished areas.
