A new House ethics panel on Tuesday unanimously approved two measures as part of Speaker Richard Corcoran’s new “culture of transparency.” One (PIE 17-01) would increase the ban on former lawmakers and statewide elected officers lobbying their colleagues after leaving office from two years to six years by way of a constitutional amendment. Florida Democrats endorse medical marijuana amendment

The Florida Democratic Party has endorsed the 2016 medical marijuana initiative. The state executive committee unanimously backed the resolution during Democratic County Chair Association retreat Saturday. The Florida Democratic Party unanimously supported the amendment in 2014. Women seeking abortions would have to wait 24 hours under a bill now advancing in the Florida Legislature. A House committee on Thursday approved the bill after hearing passionate testimony.
