Game Change: The story behind Charlie Crist’s betrayal of Rudy Giuliani

in Statewide by

Update: David Frum suggests: Rudy Giuliani’s decision to endorse Marco Rubio in the hotly contested Florida senatorial primary may be more than an act of revenge. By backing a candidate that has little overlap with the brand of Republicanism that he embodies, Rudy may be signaling that he’s given up on ever running for office again. Times editorial: Call in the feds to investigate state GOP

in Statewide by

The St. Petersburg Times Editorial Board is calling for federal prosecutors and the Internal Revenue Service to conduct a vigorous investigation at the highest level, untainted by state politics.  Excerpts: It is becoming clearer why it took so long to oust former state Republican Party chairman Jim Greer in January even as the party’s grass roots activists and largest fundraisers demanded a change. Greer had his secrets, and powerful Republican legislators had theirs. Each side was desperate to avoid disclosure, no matter…

Jim Greer lawyer: ‘Republicans writing their own Shakespearean tragedy where everybody dies’

in Statewide by

From the Orland Sentinel: Ex-GOP Chairman Jim Greer is planning to file a breach of contract suit this afternoon, and his lawyer says current party general counsel Jason Gonzalez “flat out lied” when he said there was no severance agreement and that no one knew Greer was the owner of the fundraising company Victory Strategies. Lake Mary lawyer Damon Chase (who also represents Rep. Chris Dorworth) says Greer was repeatedly assured by Dean Cannon, Mike Haridopolos, John Thrasher and other party leaders he would…
