Kevin Beckner campaign says key card information shows that Pat Frank hasn’t been showing up to work

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

After making inferences that Hillsborough Clerk of the Circuit Courts Pat Frank hasn’t been showing up for years to put in full days of work, the Kevin Beckner campaign on Thursday sent out Excel spreadsheets to reporters, documenting when she checked in and out of office with her key card in the downtown Tampa office. According to the Beckner campaign, the information shows that in 2013 and 2015, Frank showed up at the downtown office for the equivalent of 120 days a…

Hillsborough Commissioners approve placing rainbow flag above County Center for the rest of June

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Eleven years to the day after the Hillsborough County Commission stunningly voted to ban all “gay pride” events, that same government body on Wednesday approved hanging the rainbow gay pride flag from the top of County Center for the rest of the month, in a tribute to those who were massacred at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando on Sunday morning. The measure was one of three that was related to  Orlando tragedy by Commissioner Kevin Beckner. The board approved a separate motion to hold a hearing next…

Mitch Perry Report for 6.15.16 – What will Marco do?

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Is Marco Rubio ready to do the (almost) unthinkable, and soon announce that he will be running again for the U.S. Senate seat that he renounced a year ago? We’ll find out soon enough, as the deadline to make such a decision is just nine days away. The man who runs this website, Peter Schorsch, wrote last night that a deal is in the works where Rubio’s Miami-Dade County ally, Carlos Lopez-Cantera, would drop out and announce he’s running for CFO in 2018.…

While Beckner is the first openly elected gay…

Thousands crowd into Ybor City to remember the Orlando victims

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

The dominant word at a vigil held in Ybor City on Monday night to honor the victims of the shooting massacre in Orlando was “love.” A crowd of at least two thousand people gathered for two hours in a parking lot on the north side of 7th Avenue between 14th and 15th Streets to hear locally elected officials tell the crowd that they were supporting them in this dark time, less than 48 hours after a gunman shot 49 people…

Mitch Perry Report for 6.1.16 – Let the 2018 GOP gubernatorial chatter begin

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

My colleague Jim Rosica has a piece up this morning entitled, “Did Adam Putnam just launch the first ad of the 2018 gubernatorial campaign.” Check it out and decide for yourself whether indeed that’s the case. What’s truly not in dispute is that the 41-year-old Agriculture Commissioner has been the guy referred to by seemingly everyone in Florida politics as the likely 2018 GOP gubernatorial candidate. Such a premise almost assumes that he wouldn’t face any intra-party competition, which, the more you think about…
