Rep. Kathleen Peters is proposing a bill that would give cities and other stakeholders a louder voice at the table when it comes to regulating Pinellas County’s Emergency Medical Services. “All I’m doing is trying to change the makeup of the voting board, that’s it,” Peters said. Garrett Richter seeks to limit drone surveillance by Florida law enforcement

Garrett Richter of Naples filed a bill Monday to enact restrictions “prohibiting a person, state agency, or political subdivision from using a drone to capture an image of privately owned or occupied real property or of the owner, tenant, or occupant of such property with the intent to conduct surveillance” without their consent, if “a reasonable expectation of privacy exists.” Certainly that language will have to withstand some judicial scrutiny, but it is a step forward in a public policy…

Miami-Dade legislative delegation lays out 2015 priorities

The Miami-Dade delegation approved its list of legislative priorities last week, agreeing to stand behind a wide array of issues, from final funding  for a Miami Military Museum, to beefing up funding for community mental health providers, to supporting efforts to grant additional protection to policyholders taken out of Citizens property insurance.
