Bucs lose personnel director Jon Robinson to Tennessee

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The Tampa Bay Bucs, desperately in need of more personnel, will have to find it with a new personnel director. Jon Robinson, the Bucs’ personnel director the past two years, has taken the general manager’s job at Tennessee. Robinson replaces Ruston Webster, another former Bucs’ scout. With the Titans, Robinson will once again have the No. 1 pick in the draft (he helped guide the team toward Jameis Winston last year). A coaching search begins Thursday. Robinson joined Licht in…

Did the Tampa Bay Bucs take the wrong quarterback? Jameis Winston of Florida State over Oregon’s Marcus Mariota? Given the chance, would they do it all over again? It’s genius week at One Buc Place. It’s the week when everyone admires your brain. Throughout the history of the Tampa Bay Bucs, of course, there have been a lot of mental lapses. But no one ever talks about them during draft week. The week the Bucs drafted Bo Jackson, why, they were the smartest kids in the room. No one knew he was going to play baseball instead. The week they picked Keith McCants, the Bucs were golden. They…

All Bucs fans are not behind the team drafting Jameis Winston

in Apolitical/Sports/Top Headlines by

Here, he is not a savior. Here, he is not the next big thing. Here, he is not a glittering ball of potential on his way to town. Here, he is not the quarterback the Bucs have always desired. Here, Jameis Winston is simply a mistake who is waiting to happen. Just that. The conversation happens in a second-story office building, where four interested bystanders sit around a round table and talk of the upcoming draft. Perhaps, your office looks…
