St. Pete City Council will vote on a resolution supporting ten items aimed at improving conditions on the Southside at its meeting Thursday. The items are recommended by the Citizens Advisory Committee to be funded through the first round of appropriations from the newly created Southside Community Redevelopment Area. Five of the proposals would use county-approved Tax Incremental Funds to provide direct grants to businesses, property owners and residents within the Southside CRA. The Midtown Restaurant Sylvia’s of Harlem may be getting evicted from its newly renovated home in the area’s historic Manhattan Casino. The restaurant owes the city more than $60,000 in things like rent, late fees and bounced payments. A group of St. Pete teens will get a crash course in finding jobs this weekend during the 200 in 2015 Youth Employment Summit. Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 60 kids will undergo intensive training on how to land a job and be connected with job opportunities.
