A call Kevin O’Sullivan should make

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Perhaps a call Gator baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan should make is to Mike Martin. After a short and embarrassing stay at the College World Series, O’Sullivan needs to talk to someone who understands. The top-ranked Gators were favorites to win it all this year with the nation’s best pitching staff and a good supporting cast. Eight of their players were chosen by major league clubs in this month’s draft. Those lofty expectations came crashing down when Florida managed to score…

Florida State baseball head coach Mike Martin and his staff put together a top five or six recruiting class for 2016. The Seminoles received commitments from five of the nation’s top 100 players to join an already young team for the 2017 season. Unfortunately for the Seminoles, this is a good news/bad news story. Freshman Jackson Kowar started for the second time…

To get to baseball’s Elite 8, they twice smacked down arch-rival Florida State in the Super Regional by combined scores of 24-9. During the Gainesville Regional, they won…

Mike Martin and the Florida State Seminoles are set to play in another Super Regional. They have been there before. To reach the College World Series in Omaha, the Seminoles must defeat arch-rival and number 4 national seed, Florida. Fairly or unfairly, Martin is scrutinized for his program’s success at maintaining a championship-level program without winning a championship. He has led the Seminoles into the NCAA tournament for 35 consecutive years and has made it to the College World Series…
