Both Tampa and St. Pete asked for the same amount of money from a BP oil settlement to cover estimated losses as a result of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill. Tampa is getting a little less than half of the $60 million it petitioned for while St. Pete is getting just $8 million. And city leaders signed off on that. Charlie Crist asks BP for $50 million more

Charlie Crist is asking BP for another $50 million in relation to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Crist made the request in a letter to BP’s chief operating officer, Doug Suttles. Crist said the additional funds were needed for advertising the state’s tourism industry, which has been negatively impacted by the oil spill.
