The Pier Selection Committee charged with ranking design choices for a new St. Pete Pier has officially been relieved of its duties. Mayor Rick Kriseman officially thanked and dismissed committee members during a meeting in his office Thursday afternoon. The team ranked Pier Park at the top of its list during a meeting last month and St. Pete City Council subsequently approved that ranking and opened the door for Kriseman to begin negotiations with that design team. Bill Ballard letter to City Council lays out argument for Destination St. Pete Pier

Bill Ballard, an outspoken advocate for saving St. Pete’s iconic inverted pyramid, has sent another letter to St. Pete City Council urging them to vote down the final ranking of three concepts for a new Pier. In the letter obtained by SaintPetersblog Ballard seeks to lay out the “subversion of the selection process” and includes a variety of videos containing statements supporting his claim. In a meeting that almost went into the next day, the Pier Selection Committee has finally chosen a top pick for a new St. Pete Pier. Thursday afternoon begins what will likely be another long meeting for the Pier Selection Committee.
