Pinellas Democratic Party - page 2

Nina Hayden’s chances of beating Jack Latvala

in Peter/The Bay and the 'Burg by

549-to-1.  Odds of the Bucs winning the Super Bowl this year?  Nah, the Bucs aren’t that bad.  549-to-1 represents the cash-on-hand difference between Republican Jack Latvala and his Democratic opponent Nina Hayden.  After raising $504,259 and spending just over $85,723.82, Latvala still has $418,534 left in the bank.  Hayden has raised $8,490 and spent $7,728, leaving her with just $762 in the bank.  In fact, Latvala has received more in in-kind contributions ($12,683) than Hayden has raised in total contributions.…

Pinellas GOP suffers worst fundraising quarter in nearly a decade

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

At the most recent meeting of the Pinellas County Executive Committee, treasurer Chet Renfro delivered a speech in which he vigorously defended the fundraising and spending patterns of the PCREC — a speech which was said to have come in direct response to my blog post in October and the subsequent media coverage. Burns wrote a check for memorabilia he purchased during a silent auction at the Kennedy-King Dinner in June. In the comments below, Burns says he made restitution.

Earlier this year and behind closed doors, the board of Tiger Bay contemplated taking away a fang-and-claw award I received for a question I asked Mayor Rick Baker. The rationale for this unprecedented action (seriously) had something to do with Beverly…

Kendrick Meek goes all C&C Music Factory on CC — Charlie Crist, that is

in Statewide by

At Saturday’s PCDEC Kennedy King Unity Dinner, Congressman Kendrick Meek’s promised to make Charlie Crist sweat: “If the governor was talking to you tonight, there would be some kind of fan running because he never wants to sweat in front of people for some reason,” the U.S. representative form Miami quipped to 200 party activists at a Pinellas Democratic Party fundraising dinner.” This statement brought back all sorts of early ’90s images of C&C Music Factory and their song, which…

Jamie Bennett to skip Kennedy King dinner

in The Bay and the 'Burg by

Mayoral candidate Jamie Bennett will skip this weekend’s Kennedy King Unity Dinner, evidently because he (actually, his wife) does not want to attend an event of an organization (The Pinellas Democratic Party?) whose members have filed complaints against his campaign (dentally challenged Dem Jim Donnelon filed complaints against Bennett and myself, all of which were dismissed).
