NCAA denies the appeal of Gators’ quarterback Will Grier

in Sports/Top Headlines by

For one of the few times all season, something has not gone right with the Florida Gators. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the NCAA has decided to reject the appeal of Gators’ quarterback Will Grier. Grier will remain suspended until next Oct. 15, just before the team plays against Missouri. Grier was suspended by the NCAA for use of a banned substance. Grier said it was an over-the-counter supplement and did not check with the Florida medical staff. Sophomore Treon…

Bucs could face another backup quarterback against Eagles

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Sam Bradford? Or Mark Sanchez? To Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly, it doesn’t much matter. The Eagles (4-5) face a decision for Sunday’s game based upon Bradford’s health. But even if Sanchez, the backup, plays against the Bucs, Kelly said he is fine with it. “It just depends on Sam’s health,” Kelly said. “Yesterday was our first day out on the field. We have another training session today. So we have four more training sessions before we have to make any…

The eyes look the same. The moutn is familiar. There is something about the way he grins. But to a Notre Dame fan, is this really Everett Golson? If he does become the starting quarterback, how is coach Jim Elwain ever going to completely believe there will not…

Gators decide to start Treon Harris as their quarterback

in Sports/Top Headlines by

The Florida Gators ended up going with experience at quarterback, too. Gators’ coach Jim McElwain announced Wednesday that he will start incumbent quarterback Treon Harris at quarterback Saturday when the team takes on New Mexico State in its season opener. Harris played in games last season as a dual threat quarterback. For many fans, the advantage to redshirt freshman Will Grier was his newness. He was a four-star quarterback recruit who had never thrown an incompletion (or completion, for that…
