Marco Rubio featured on ‘Nightline’ tonight

Charlie Crist will announce his plan to leave the Republican Party today and run as an Independent in the U.S. Senate race, according to reports. The reason he’s leaving, poll-leading Republican opponent Marco Rubio, will receive a national showcase on Thursday’s “Nightline.” “Nightline” co-anchor Terry Moran will interview Rubio in Coral Gables tomorrow. Party general counsel Jason Gonzalez wrote a memo warning that members of the State Executive Committee or county GOP committees may not support anyone but Republicans in elections. Public Policy Polling reminds us that, while it’s his fall with Republicans that gets all the attention, but Charlie Crist’s poll numbers have declined almost as badly with Democrats and independents over the last year as they have within his own party.
