There’s an unspoken – alright, sometimes spoken – feud between St. Pete and Tampa over which side is better. Well, Thursday morning St. Pete bested its big brother across the Bay in a go-cart race between several local mayors. St. Pete City Council awarded the Eckerd College Search and Rescue team during its meeting Thursday for its involvement in recovering the body of 5-year-old Phoebe Jonchuck. The little girl was tragically thrown from the Dick Misener Bridge of the Sunshine Skyway early in the morning of January 8. St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman announced plans to expand one of the baseball fields at Walter Fuller Park into a small stadium used for International Baseball games and college games. St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman will make an announcement Tuesday morning regarding the Carter G. Woodson historic African-American History Museum. The pending announcement comes after federal officials visiting St. Pete put plans to sell the building where the museum is located.
