in Sports/Top Headlines by

FSU’s football world is not on Dalvin Cook’s shoulders. Still, the strain is showing. Cook has had minor shoulder surgery, which will keep him out for Saturday’s spring game as well as the next two months. The star running back should be ready for summer practice, coach Jimbo Fisher said. “We cleaned up some stuff in the back of his shoulder, and he’ll be ready in a couple of months,” Fisher said. “He’ll be ready to go in June or…

Bucs could use Doug Martin’s autograph … on new contract

in Sports/Top Headlines by

He can break tackles. He can dodge linebackers. He can catch the ball out of the backfield. Ah, but can Doug Martin sign his name? For the Tampa Bay Bucs, that might be the next impressive play by Martin. To sign a new contract. To make sure he stays in a backfield where he has gained 941 yards this season. That’s impressive, considering that Martin had only 950 yards combined for the Bucs in the previous two seasons. He was…

The endangered running back not so endangered

In his three seasons here, James played in 20 games, rushed 79 times for 332 yards and caught 11 passes for 38 yards. James played his college…

Once again, he is happy. And once again, he looks like a threat for the Bucs. And who said a man can’t rediscover himself in the preseason? Lately, Martin has been a memory for the Bucs, a back who hasn’t gained 500 yards the past two seasons.…

FSU’s suspended running back Dalvin Cook has trial moved up

in Sports/Top Headlines by

Dalvin Cook got an accelerated trial. Now, if he is found not guilty, how fast will he able to rejoin his Florida State Seminoles? Cook’s court case has been moved up to August 24, giving him as many as an extra 10 days to practice if he is found not guilty. If he is found guilty, it would be difficult for coach Jimbo Fisher to welcome him back any time soon following the insistence that he is opposed to domestic…
