At rally in Tampa, a call for County Commission to revisit Confederate monument vote

Activists and interested citizens gathered in front of the Confederate monument in downtown Tampa on Tuesday, seeking to push the Hillsborough County Commission to reverse its 4-3 vote last week to keep the statue where it’s been standing for more than 100 years. In the wake of southern cities like New Orleans, Gainesville and Orlando removing Confederate monuments, Hillsborough County Commission Chair Les Miller is poised to make a proposal this week calling for removing a Confederate statue outside of the Hillsborough County Courthouse.
