Mitch Perry Report for 6.20.16 — Cleveland’s curse is history

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Congratulations to the city of Cleveland and fans of the Cleveland Cavaliers worldwide, after they defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last night, 93-89, bringing the city their first sports championship in 52 years. Okay, that wasn’t too difficult for me to type. As a lifelong Warriors fan, it’s a crushing feeling, having the team with the best regular season in history coming up just short, but the fact is, the better team won. Although the…

Mitch Perry Report for 5.25.16 — The agony and the agony

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Tampa Bay area sports fans were hit with a double whammy of negativity on Tuesday. I also had a poor night watching people play games for profit. First of all, the Tampa Bay Lightning blew their opportunity to close out their Eastern Conference Finals series with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and face elimination tomorrow night in Pennsylvania. The Lightning played a listless game for two periods; the Penguins, playing with their season on the line, were by far the more aggressive…

Mitch Perry Report for 3.21.16 — Trying to get with “The Program”

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Good morning, and welcome to the first full day of spring 2016. While ESPN was being trashed via Twitter for hailing Fidel Castro‘s “love of sports,” American fans were absorbed in watching the college basketball playoffs, where we’re now down to the Sweet 16 in what is also known as “March Madness,” a/k/a “The Final Four,” and a/k/a “a lot of overrated basketball,” if you ask me. Well, Carlos Beruff is now officially about to get into the GOP Senate race. Our interview this week with current leader David Jolly  has his take. Can we talk about greatness? In Orlando, the Golden State Warriors come to town at 7 p.m. to play the Magic at Amway Center. You may have heard about the Warriors in the past year. With their victory in Miami Wednesday night in a gritty, 6-point victory over the Heat, the defending champions are now…

Mitch Perry Report for 5.22.15 — On Donald Trump, James Harden & what local taxpayers should pay for

in The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to you all, which by the way is the earliest we can ever have such a holiday, with this Monday only being the 25th of May. Incidentally, Labor Day will take place as late as it can be this year (September 7), which will actually be a factor in delaying the NFL season by a week, meaning the regular season won’t end until next January. If one of the prerequisites for being a politician is engaging in a…

Mitch Perry Report for 5.12.15 — Can Jeb Bush take back his response on Iraq?

in 2017/The Bay and the 'Burg/Top Headlines by

Are supporters/apologists for Jeb Bush now claiming Jeb Bush didn’t understand the question when Megyn Kelly asked him about the Iraq war? “Knowing what we know now, would you have authorized the invasion?” The Fox News host asked Bush in a very straightforward way that aired last night on the FNC. “I would have, and so would have Hillary Clinton, just to remind everybody,” Bush said, “and so would have almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got.” Not…
