February poised to be busy month for fundraising for lawmakers seeking re-election

in Statewide by

February will be a busy month for state lawmakers hoping to raise a few bucks for their next campaign before the start of the 2017 Legislative Session. Several candidates will be holding campaign fundraisers in Tallahassee during back-to-back-to-back committee weeks this month. Willey matched up against Cummings last November in a…

The bankers’ document paints the member-owned cooperatives as avaricious monsters feeding at the public trough, though the FBA’s own members — giants like Bank of America, SunTrust, Wells Fargo and J.P. Morgan Chase are represented on their board — currently profit massively off of deposits originating from taxpayers, partly owing…

Strike-all amendment awaits House telehealth bill

in Top Headlines by

A strike-everything amendment awaits the House telehealth bill in the House Health Quality Subcommittee on Thursday. The  amendment, offered by bill sponsor state Rep. Travis Cummings, does not make the bill identical to the Senate measure, CS/SB 478. But the amendment does address a new issue in the telehealth debate: regulation of telehealth products. The House strike-all amendment would make clear that telehealth products are not “discount medical plans.” The strike-everything amendment to the House bill does not address telehealth…
