USF senior safety Hassan Childs has been arrested after being injured in a shooting Saturday night. Police have charged Childs with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession. Childs, 22, was shot three times by Jovanni Jiminez in an incident that began as road rage. Florida Supreme Court declines to hear Tampa General malpractice case

The Florida Supreme Court decided not to weigh in on a case between Tampa General Hospital and the estate of Annie Godwin, who died while undergoing surgery performed by University of South Florida physicians in 2009. Godwin died of blood loss during an operation to remove a cancerous tumor after a large vein was torn during surgery. The USF Bulls, for years a non-essential basketball team, will try a new direction in former Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory. Gregory, 50, had a 20-win season for the Yellow Jackets and five 20-win seasons for Dayton. The USF women weren’t able to stop the Huns at the gate Monday night. Still, they played better. Six weeks after losing by an embarrassing 65 points to UConn, the Bulls came within 28 points of the rampaging Huskies, 96-68, who have now won 104 straight games.
