Election Day is still more than two weeks away, but more than 1.1 million Floridians have already voted. New numbers posted Saturday by the Florida Division of Elections show a stream of vote-by-mail ballots have already been returned to election officials. Those numbers show that Republican voters have returned nearly 464,000 ballots while more than 443,000 Democratic voters have mailed in their ballots. Florida’s top election official is going to accept a ruling that says the state must give thousands of voters a chance to make sure their vote-by-mail ballots are counted. It’s a small lead — 27 ballots — but Democrats are now in front in the number of returned vote-by-mail ballots. With more than a half-million ballots turned in, the Division of Elections website Monday showed registered Democrats had submitted 210,734 ballots to Republicans’ 210,707.
