Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo has been diagnosed with whooping cough, a rare and contagious disease that’s officially known as pertussis. The freshman Republican has been ill for several weeks with the disease, which has largely been quelled in the U.S. through vaccination. New Florida law expands list of vaccinations available at local pharmacies

Floridians can now get more vaccines at local pharmacies, thanks to a new state law that becomes effective today. Signed by Gov. Rick Scott on June 10, House Bill 279 makes new vaccines available to patients at pharmacies, instead of only at doctors’ offices.
