Tampa attorney Carl Hinson has filed as a candidate for Hillsborough Circuit Court, Group 3, a seat that will be vacated next year by retiring Judge Manual A. Lopez.
Hinson ran last year for the Hillsborough Circuit Court Group 8 seat that was being vacated by retiring Judge James D. Arnold, but lost out to Barbara Twine Thomas in November.
A past president of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the 55-year-old Hinson has been in civil ligation for his entire career.
He’s popular among his colleagues. According to a survey of members of the Hillsborough County Bar Association last year published in the Tampa Tribune, 69 percent of 272 voters highly approved of his work as an attorney, while another 28 percent approved, with only 3 percent disapproving.
