It’s the Final Countdown!

The last weekend of the General Election has arrived, with candidates, supporters and volunteers all on the campaign trail in the last opportunity for get the word out.

In Tampa Bay and all around the state, it’s all hands on deck for a variety of last-minute, get-out-the-vote events:

Friday, Oct. 31

The Republican Party of Pinellas County is holding a Mega Victory Sign-Waving event Friday afternoon from 4 p.m. to dusk at the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Parking is at Clearwater Christian College, turn West into Demascus Road at traffic light. Signs will be provided, but flags and homemade signs are welcome. Sign wavers must remain 5 feet from the road and no horns of any kind are allowed.

Saturday, Nov. 1

Gov. Rick Scott and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio are the headliners at a free get-out-the-early-vote rally sponsored by the Republican Party of Sarasota County. The free event begins 11 a.m. Saturday at Center for Surgical Excellence, 8421 Pointe Loop Dr. in Venice. RSVPs are available here.

On Saturday, state Rep. Mark Danish is hosting a Democratic canvassing event for his re-election effort in House District 63. Group canvassing will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3248 Cove Bend Dr. in Tampa. The event will promote Danish, Charlie Crist and all Democrats on the ballot. Friends of Greenlight is hosting a door-knocking event on Saturday in support of the Greenlight Pinellas transit referendum on the ballot Tuesday. Volunteers will meet starting 10 am at St. Pete College in Seminole, 9200 113th St N. More information and volunteer opportunities are at VoteYesOnGreenlight.com.

Connect Tampa Bay, also supporting Greenlight Pinellas, will host “The Walk to End Gridlock” on Saturday, beginning 10 a.m. at the Gulfport Public Library, 5501 28th Ave S. in Gulfport.

Sunday, Nov. 2

Connect Tampa Bay also will be out knocking on doors for a “Last Call” event on Sunday, starting 10 a.m. at the Pinellas Realtor Organization, 4590 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater.
