The problem with the Times’ coverage of the mayoral race…

…can be found in the dichotomy of opinion between Adam Smith’s and Cristina Silva’s reporting from last night’s mayoral forum.

Smith, the veteran reporter, tweeted last night: “Frustrating watching SP mayor forums. 8 bright to vry bright cands, nobody rlly stnding out or saying anything unpredictable. Adds up 2 mush.” On the other hand, Silva writes the article “St. Petersburg mayoral candidates dig into substantive issues.”

So which is it…mush or substantive?
