This mailer attacking HD 36 candidate Bill Gunter is a turd

One of the practical problems facing the Democrats in the special election for House District 36 is knowing who exactly is in charge of the party’s efforts.

Is it Rep. Darryl Rouson, who for the moment is still the incoming leader among Florida Democrats? If so, who is working on the nuts and bolts of the campaign for Amanda Murphy? Party chair Allison Tant just fired Rouson’s political director, Chris Mitchell, leaving who knows in charge of the day-to-day operations.

Who’s consulting? Who’s strategizing? Who’s approving the direct mail?

What’s interesting is that the Amanda Murphy campaign is spending a lot of money at Image Media, a printer based in Tarpon Springs. This is interesting because Image Media is often a vendor for Rouson and his consigliere, Barry Edwards.

So is it Edwards who is designing and approving the mail?

And if its not Edwards, can someone please tell who designed this turd:

gunter, bill - front

and

gunter, bill - back

This piece is just beggin’ to be PolitFacted, but even that there’s not enough ink the newspaper to cover all of the errors with this piece.

Gunter “sides with special interests”? How is that possible considering the guy has yet to cast a single vote? He would let insurance groups “take over Citizens Insurance”? Is there any proof to back up this claim?

Etc., etc.

This mailer is just a series of non-sequiters and demagoguery casting a negative light on — how dare he — Gunter raising money for his campaign? This from the party which — allegedly — is having to sweep its campaign bank accounts to pay back the donations it accepted from the now-disgraced Allied Veterans of the World organization.

You know, former state Rep. Mike Fasano is making a lot of noise about wanting the two candidates aspiring to replace him to run clean campaigns. On Sunday night, he offered a not-so-cryptic tweet that Gunter “can’t run on his own merits. Instead attacks opponent using Tallahassee money.”

Fasano is setting the table for him to endorse Murphy after stating he would not make an endorsement. Fasano will say something about not being able to stand idly by while Gunter runs a negative campaign.

I’d ask Rep. Fasano to hold the Murphy campaign to the same standard.
