Republican Party of Florida Chairman John Thrasher said the arrest of his predecessor on charges of grand theft and money laundering were “regrettable” but that the man who hand-picked Jim Greer for the job shared some responsibility for the scandal.
That would be Gov. Charlie Crist, the former Republican officeholder-turned-independent U.S. Senate candidate.
“I don’t think you can walk away from the fact that this guy was at one time your best buddy in politics, that you relied on day-in and day-out, and now say that because he’s been indicted ‘I never had anything to do with it,’ ” Thrasher told reporters at RPOF headquarters in Tallahassee. “I don’t think you can walk away from it.” Continue reading here.
