Tom Scott endorses Bob Buckhorn

Tampa City Council Chairman Tom Scott is expected today to endorse Bob Buckhorn to be the city’s next mayor in the upcoming runoff elections.

The pair are expected to make the formal announcement at a news conference this morning in East Tampa, near the District 3 Tampa Police headquarters and down the street from Scott’s church, the 34th Street Church of God, according to Buckhorn’s campaign.

Buckhorn faces Rose Ferlita in the March 22 runoffs to replace outgoing Mayor Pam Iorio, who can’t run again because of term limits.

Scott wouldn’t confirm the endorsement Friday night, but Ferlita said Scott had called her personally to inform her of his decision to back Buckhorn. Continue reading Christian Wade’s article
