The organization that represenats many of the state’s road builders wants lawmakers to give the green light to destination resorts that include casinos. The Legislature is considering approving permits for up to three mega-resorts in South Florida that would have Las Vegas-style gambling, and already it’s one of the most heavily-lobbied and debated issues in Tallahassee. “We feel that the passage of this important legislation will result in a privately funded economic stimulus package that will directly benefit the residents and families of Broward and Miami-Dade counties and in reality, the entire state,” Bob Burleson, president of the Florida Transportation Builders Association wrote to bill sponsor Sen. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale.
