The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross in his Florida 15th Congressional District re-election effort.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Chamber praised the two-term Republican from Lakeland for his “consistent support of free enterprise and job creation. “
“Since coming to Washington, Dennis has been a consistent champion for small businesses because he understands that individuals, not the government, create jobs,” said Chamber Political Director Rob Engstrom.
“Too many of our neighbors are still unemployed and left suffering by our stagnant economy,” Ross responded. “The red tape and government interference that our small business owners are forced to cope with is incredible.
“I’m committed to continuing the fight to get the federal government out of the way of business owners so they can create jobs and we can unleash the power of the American economy.”
Ross faces Democrat Alan Cohn, a former journalist with Tampa ABC affiliate WFTS, for the seat covering northern parts of Hillsborough and Polk County, including residential Tampa, Brandon, Plant City, Lakeland and Bartow.
