Whether it’s date night or an important business meeting, when getting around Tampa Bay Uber knows that there is nothing like hitting the city in style.
That’s why the San Francisco-based ridesharing company is introducing UberSELECT — what they call ridesharing with an “added touch of luxury.”
Unlike the standard UberX service currently operating in Tampa and St. Petersburg, UberSELECT provides pickups using late-model luxury vehicles such as BMWs, Mercedes, and Audis. Rates remain competitive with traditional taxi and towncar services.
UberSELECT base fares start at $3, with $2 per mile and $0.30 per minute waiting time. A minimum ride will set you back at least $10. That compares to the standard UberX ride, with a $1 base fare, $0.95 per mile and a $4 minimum fare. All Uber services include a $1 “safe shares ride” fee.
Currently, UberSELECT is only available in Downtown Tampa and St. Petersburg, a move that ensures there are enough driver-partners available to keep up service levels. The company also asks users for a little patience as the UberSELECT program gets up and running.
But as the company says on its Uber Tampa Bay blog, “the more you use it, the more it will grow, so keep riding!”
