Now that the races to lead the Florida Democratic Party and the Republican party of Florida are over, the next parlor game sure to fascinate Florida’s political class is the vote to be Speaker of the House in 2017-18.

So far, the four viable candidates are Representatives Ben Albritton, Richard Corcoran, Daniel Davis and Matt Gaetz, who is the considered to be the front-runner.

Well, that number of viable candidates appears to have shrunk by one: Jacksonville’s Daniel Davis is said to have dropped out of the race over the weekend, finalizing his decision and informing his allies at the RPOF meeting in Orlando.
