Robert O’Neill, the US attorney for the Middle District of Florida, on Thursday announced that he will resign this summer to join Freeh Group International Solutions.
President Barack Obama nominated O’Neill, who has been a federal prosecutor for most of his career, for the Middle District post in Tampa in 2011. The district encompasses 35 counties.
The Freeh Group position is “an extremely unique opportunity,” O’Neill said in a statement regarding his resignation plans.
A native of the Bronx, O’Neill will open a new office for the company in Miami.
Based in New York City, the company is described on its website as a global risk management firm focused on business integrity and compliance, safety and security, and investigations and due diligence.
