GOP Gov. Rick Scott won a healthy boost last month from The Villages, an enormous Central Florida retirement community friendly to Republican candidates.
Scott received $81,000 in May from Villages developer H. Gary Morse, in addition to campaign cash from two dozen companies associated with the Villages, according to recently filed campaign reports.
Reports show Gov. Scott received 27 separate contributions for the maximum $3,000 each, from Morse, Renee B. Morse and 25 other companies, each dated May 29 and coming from three addresses.
Corporate records list H. Gary Morse as one of the officers in the majority of the firms. Last month Gov. Scott raised nearly $1.2 million for his campaign account.
