Calling it “America’s Biggest Health Fair,” Walmart will kick off a series of free healthcare-related services this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at more than 4,400 stores nationwide.
Stores with pharmacies will offer free blood glucose, blood pressure and vision screenings. They will also offer free immunizations from licensed pharmacists. Screenings for blood pressure and glucose are considered crucial in determining certain illnesses including diabetes.
The four-hour event will also feature free samples and product demos, health insurance education and free gift bags while supplies last.
Beginning October 15, customers will also be able to participate in Walmart’s Healthcare Begins Here open enrollment period running through January 31, 2016. The program is a partnership between Walmart and DirectHealth.com and serves as a way to help customers select health coverage during the healthcare exchange open enrollment period.
That service is only available in 2,400 Walmart stores.
