Welcome to Pinellas (at least part of it): Rep. James Grant says he’ll run in newly-drawn District 64

Welcome to Pinellas, Jamie Grant!

Rep. James Grant tells me that he has decided to run in the newly-drawn District 64, which includes parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.  Grant’s move allows him to avoid a primary battle with Rep. Shawn Harrison, who was drawn into the same district as Grant.

“Although the maps are yet to be finalized, my intent is to run for State House District 64, which is comprised of approximately 60% of my current district,” said Grant. “Although I will no longer have the opportunity to represent some areas of District 47 that are very important to me, I am excited to meet new voters in other parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas County.”

But before he gets around to meeting these new voters, Grant says he is staying focused on his work in Tallahassee. “At the conclusion of session,” said Grant, “I will be available to answer questions regarding my reelection campaign.

“In the meantime, your State House is working hard to make Florida the best state in the country to start a business and raise a family.”

So get your work done in the capitol, Rep. Grant, and we’ll welcome you to Pinellas soon enough.
