Gov. Rick Scott seems to prefer late Friday evening for when his office announces what legislation he has signed or vetoed. Here is a round-up of what the Governor signed into law and what he vetoed.

Signed into law

Several budget conforming bills

A bill accelerating independence for the University of South Florida’s Lakeland campus.

A measure reducing state contributions to the retirement accounts of public employees in the investment plan offered to state workers.

Legislation that would require the state to reapply for federal stimulus money to help with expanding broadband coverage.

Legislation authorizing the Department of Lottery to lease vending machines that will dispense online lottery tickets, instant tickets or both


A bill overhauling the state’s early learning programs in the wake of a scathing report by the Auditor General.

A bill dealing with the state’s email system.

A measure authorizing the University of Florida to set up its own insurance program for employees and their families as an alternative to the state health care program, and a bill (HB 5011) dealing with the state’s email system.

A bill that would have created an alternative mechanism for providing capital for the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund by issuing $1.5 billion in tax certificates to infuse the CAT fund with cash.
